Frederick W. Gerkens, Esq.

Experience:

Mr. Gerkens has had several years of litigation experience.  He was promoted to partner within five years of his first full-time law firm position.  Mr. Gerkens brings a unique background to complex claims involving violations of accounting, auditing and/or securities reporting regulations. 

Mr. Gerkens also is a Certified Public Accountant, spending the first half of his career auditing financial services firms, while employed by international public accounting firms, and eventually becoming a Corporate Vice President and Director of Financial Reporting at a large Wall Street investment firm. 

After attending law school, Mr. Gerkens clerked for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, Division of Market Regulation.  Thereafter, Mr. Gerkens worked at various law firms, where he gained extensive experience in complex litigation, including class actions in the securities, employment, consumer protection and antitrust areas.   Mr. Gerkens also has experience in commercial litigation and social security law.

Mr. Gerkens also distinguished himself in the academic field.  During law school he was the Executive Articles Editor for one of New York Law School's law journals and also received the American Jurisprudence Award in Legal Writing and Research.  Mr. Gerkens also graduated with honors at New York Law School, Fordham University School of Law, and at his undergraduate institution.   He also excelled at all graduate business institutions attended.

 Mr. Gerkens also is an instructor of forensic accounting, business law and auditing at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, The City University of New York.  He also was the director of the advanced certificate in forensic accounting program at John Jay College from September 2012 through August 2013.
